Wouldn’t it be great to have your shower professionally cleaned every week?
If that’s a little too much for your budget to handle, but you really like the look of clean sparkly glass with no ugly soap spots, there is an easy way.
Yes really.
- First though, you have to give all the glass a really good once over with an excellent soap scum removing cleaner. When I first moved in to my tiny apartment I used a commercial product that wasn’t even remotely non-toxic or natural, but I only used it to get the years of soap scum layers off the glass for a fresh start.
If you’d like to make your own natural shower cleaner, a paste made of baking soda & vinegar and a bit of elbow grease does a good job.
Keeping A Tidy House – The Easy Way
Maintaining the glorious clarity of your shower glass is easy:
Install a squeegee with a soft rubber blade, hard blades don’t do a good job.
You’ll need to hang it in the shower, I started with a Command hook, moved on to a metal S hook hanging from my shower caddy and now I have a squeegee with a built in hook on the handle. It’s brilliant.
If you buy a suction or stick-on hook take your squeegee with you to make sure the hook will fit through the hole in the squeegee handle.
Make sure you install it in a spot inside the shower that’s out of the way until you need it. You don’t want it banging your elbows when you’re showering.
Every day grab your squeegee and wipe off all the drops from the surface that you want to remain looking gorgeous. It helps to first rinse off the glass and walls of the shower if you have a removable shower head & hose, but it’s not essential.
Don’t forget the bottom of the glass! It’s often the worst bit.
You can use a good absorbent microfibre cloth too, if you prefer, but remember to wash it frequently.
It’ll become a habit, and it really only takes a few seconds (depending on the size of your squeegee & shower!). You will still need to give the shower a once over with a Serious Soap Scum Cleaner every now and then, but not as often. Yay!
Now all you have to do is enjoy the long lasting sparkle of your shower!
