I recently had the great pleasure of organising the wardrobe of a collector of pretty dresses. I noticed that nearly half were hung inside out.
She explained that her mother, who bought beautiful clothes in Europe many years ago, taught her to do this to protect the fabric from dust. Of course now we have plastic dust covers, but she also used this method to weed out unworn clothes. Definitely an interesting alternative to placing hangers backwards.
I’d normally recommend garment dust covers to this client except she was very happy with her system.
