A Tiny Tidy Tip ~ A Smarter Way To Get Stuff Done.

Here’s a blindingly obvious statement! There are only 24 hours in a day and we spend a good chunk of those hours doing stuff like sleeping and eating. Feeding kids, going to work, meeting hard-to-pin-down family and friends. All of these things have to happen at a planned time or things get crazy!

The hours that are left usually vanish so fast it’s like we just walked through a time warp. Plus we want to do fun stuff! That’s the point of life, enjoying ourselves.

Then there’s the Things-We-Have-To-Do. Laundry, unloading the dishwasher, mowing the lawn, decluttering the plastics drawer… (But Liz, that’s not a Have To Do?! ~ Do it anyway, it’s going to make your life so much easier!) Washing the floor, going to the gym… The list is endless and it never stops.

And then there’s the big jobs that come up every now and then. And Plans and Goals, like making a huge new veggie garden or building a playhouse.

I’m feeling tired already!

One thing I’ve learn’t in my 50 years is this:

It is SMART to plan to do the Things-We-Have-To-Do at a time when we have the energy to get them done.

Here’s a daily scenario: Ange has dropped the kids off at kindy and school and she is shattered. The littlest needs her nappy changing, a feed and nap and SO DOES SHE. She does not attempt anything that’s hard. ~ Maybe toss a load of laundry on and make yourself a cup of tea. Sit. Maybe have a nap. When you feel restored, tackle some of the other stuff.

Here’s a weekly or fortnightly scenario: Cheryl has been shopping and carried the bags up four flights of stairs. She is knackered! She knows this is not the time to start vacuuming! ~ It may even be better to not put the shopping away for a bit. Just toss the cold stuff in the fridge and freezer and sit your bottom down. Maybe have a cup of tea.

Maybe you’re a morning person, maybe you move into your groove when the sun goes down. We know what we have to do, and we know when we feel the most energetic.

Work WITH your energy and you’ll find you’ll feel a lot happier, you’ll get things finished because you won’t need a sofa break half way through.

You’ll get it all done, don’t worry. It’s about being kind to yourself.

P.S. Pooping doesn’t take up a huge amount of time I know… I put it in to make you laugh :o)

P.P.S. This is a long Tiny Tidy Tip, sorry! Sometimes I just can’t help myself.
