Diabolical Decluttering Decisions!

Decluttering is not easy at the best of times. If you’ve been wrestling with it during the holidays, good on you!

If you haven’t had the heart, the energy or the motivation and haven’t decluttered a thing… Good on you!

Take my word for it, you want to be using all your brain cells when you’re decluttering. After all, you’re decluttering for a reason. It’s usually a very important reason – your happiness and well-being.

You could be planning on moving soon, thinking of reducing all that packing – of stuff you might not even want to unpack! Or maybe you’re trying to make your life easier in your home: easier to clean, easier to find things. You could be doing it to find your calm or refresh your whole house.

Every reason for decluttering is an important one. (I’m not just saying that because I’m a bit of a fan.) Your decisions and needs and wants are important.

So if you’re just not feeling up to it, or have done way less than you planned at the start, take it easy on yourself. Resist making your most Diabolical Decluttering Decisions.

Your brain might have been occupied dealing with all the things that come with life. You could have been feeling loneliness and stress and worry, anxiety or just-barely-coping with busy family chaos.

Soon enough you’ll feel that motivation, or maybe it’ll take a wee while. Maybe you’ll do it in little chunks, as you can, or one big binge, when you feel the time is right. Until then do what you can or stick to decluttering the easy stuff and be satisfied with that for now.

Be kind to yourself.
